The state’s ongoing teacher shortage is not something new or a result of COVID-19, though the pandemic posed special challenges to schools and drove college enrollment numbers down. On April 12, 2022, Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton met with Governors State University’s faculty, staff, and students to discuss solutions to the national teacher shortage. Our SEA/KDP President, Hailey Palella, was elected with four other students to talk about her professors and alternative pathways.
