Ugly Sweater Meet & Greet

  • Description: To show our appreciation, SEA members can join us at GSU, pick up SEA swag and meet new leaders of the school year! New members can also talk about member benefits and upcoming events!

Sensory STEM Box Workshop

  • Date & Time: Wednesday, February 16th, 2022 at 5:30pm-7:00pm.
  • Location: Governors State University, Room B2200
  • Description: Join us to learn about educational sensory boxes with STEM challenges and learning activity cards that benefit both kids and adults. Brainy Day Boxes promote STEM education principles and the benefits of sensory play for kids with a variety of abilities and interests. Get a free Brainy Day Box to take home! Participants must attend the entire workshop in order to get any materials.

Student IEA Leader Conference

  • Date & Time: Saturday, February 19th, 2022 at 2pm-5:30pm.
  • Location: Zoom
  • Description: Leaders will meet with the IEA Advisory board and other IEA leaders to connect with current and emerging chapter leaders, share Student IEA state resources, exchange ideas about chapter meetings and other membership benefits, and learn more about becoming the most qualified future teacher you can be!

Literacy Night

  • Date & Time: Wednesday, March 9th, 2022 at 5pm-7pm.
  • Location: Acorn Public Library, 15624 Central Avenue, Oak Forest
  • Description: Students and family members will be able to partake in a variety of activities that encourages students to use their literary skills.
  • Audience: Elementary students and families
  • Organizers: SEA & KDP leaders and faculty.

Teaching Human Ecology with Models and Simulations Workshop

  • Date & Time: Monday, April 4th, 2022 at 5pm-6:30pm.
  • Location: Zoom
  • Description: This workshop will show participants activities and strategies for 1st-3rd grade classrooms that connects with science and social studies content of environmental studies/human impacts (science) or human geography/global citizenship (social studies), while integrating socioemotional (SEL) learning.

  • Audience: Any current student at GSU in the education field
  • Organizers: SEA & KDP leaders and faculty.

IEA Student Conference

  • Date & Time: Saturday, April 23rd, 2022 at 9am-3pm.
  • Location: Bloomington
  • Description: Attend interactive workshops, get free materials, and network with people in the field.
  • Audience: For SEA members only.

Teacher Appreciation Week

  • Date & Time: Monday, May 2nd, 2022- Friday, May 6th, 2022.
  • Description: Join our leaders and advisors as we celebrate National Teacher Appreciation week! SEA and KDP are celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week by writing notes to teachers and distributing these cards to educators at various schools in the community.

Joliet Slammers Baseball Game

  • Date & Time: Saturday, June 4th, 2022 at 1pm or 6pm
  • Location: Dupage Med Grp, Field 1 Mayor Art Schultz Dr. Joliet, IL 60432
  • Description: Join us to celebrate the end of the year, as well as help us raise funds for future events!
    • $10 per ticket. Tickets must be purchased through SEA/KDP leaders.
