Teacher Panel – November 2nd, 2020

Summary

The Student Education Association (SEA) and Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society (KDP) hosted a Teacher Panel on Monday, November 2nd via Zoom. Students at Governor State University (GSU) who are pre-service educators attended and asked questions.  The Teacher Panel covered topics regarding student teaching, first year teaching strategies, how to write resumes, tips on applying for jobs, educators as professionals, specialty areas in education, and how to prep for the edTPA.

The panel consisted of a range of teachers including several first year teachers through retired teachers: Samantha Allen, Janet Blackmon, Kinga Drag, Tanya Mathers, Jessica White, Dr. Damien Aherne, Keelin Crotty, Felicia Kunelis, Destiny Mangano, Willie Williams, Joseph Zampillo, Gregory Baker, Nassrine Hamdan, Alexandrea Horton, Monica King, Rob Lininger, and Joy Otry. Dr. Angela Thompson (edTPA Coordinator/ Professor at GSU) shared her knowledge and advice on how to prepare and succeed with edTPA.  The GSU students who attended left with an abundance of knowledge to help them prepare to be successful educators. 

The SEA would like to thank the panelist volunteers for their valuable time and knowledge.

The SEA and KDP Teacher Panel is here for another year!

Join us on Monday, November 2nd, 2020 from 4:30-6:00 pm

On Monday, November 2nd, 2020 from 4:30-6:00 pm, the SEA leaders will host a teacher panel via Zoom. Students with any major are welcome to RSVP and attend this informative event. Attendees can hear from first-year teachers, student teachers, current teachers, principals, and educational specialists. Topics covered at the event include, but are not limited to edTPA, student teaching, first year teaching, job applications, and specialty fields in education. During the event, there will be breakout rooms for Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education. There, attendees can ask questions and receive informed advice specific to each major. The event will be a great opportunity to meet SEA members and gain helpful insights for success in the field of education. Students are required to RSVP to Sydney Schurman by October 26th with their name, email, and major.
