IEA Student Spring Conference

“The Journey of a Book of a Book Starts with a Word” Reading Showcase

  • The Student Education Association is teaming up with the Foundations 4 AdVANCEment to host the second annual “The Journey of a Book Starts with a Word” Reading Showcase! We are looking for volunteers, even if it is just for a couple of hours! This will be held at Governors State University in the Center for Performing Arts.

Community Service Projects – part of IEA Grant

    • Members are welcome to attend and help organize and sort the donations, pack care bags, and make blankets for the Ronald McDonald House, PADS, and Military Community Service Projects

Community Service Project- The Ronald McDonald House Charities – part of IEA Grant

  • February 1st-March 9th, 2016
  • The Student Education Association is sponsoring a community service project for The Ronald McDonald House Charities.  We are creating care bags containing items requested and making baby blankets. Please assist us in our efforts by donating the items listed below.(This is part of a grant awarded to the SEA by the Illinois Education Association.)
  • Requested Items:Paper Towels, Liquid laundry detergent (unscented), Bottled water, Mini boxes of cereal, Protein bars, Fabric softener sheets, “to-go” containers, Pillow protectors, Mailing tape, Copy paper, forever postage stamps, travel-size anti-bacterial gel, etc.

  • The Student Education Association is sponsoring a community service project for South Suburban PADS homeless shelter and military members. We are creating care bags containing items requested. Teacher Workshop – Technology (Connect 2 Connections), part of NEA Grant

  • February 17th at 3:00 to 4:00pm at Family Development Center at Governors State University
  • The Student Education Association is sponsoring a series of free workshops for teachers. This workshop focuses on using technology in the classroom to help with behavior management. It will only be available to teachers at the FDC. (This is part of a grant awarded to us by the National Education Association (NEA))

NEA GRANT

We are proud to announce that SEA at GSU received the NEA CREATE Teacher Quality Grant!  During the spring semester we will use the grant money to host workshops for current teachers. These workshops will teach and aide teachers with technology.  Our goals are to help teachers use technology to connect with their students in a way that is exciting for this generation, easily connect with families, and to provide updated teaching methods.  Here is a link to our application video to help give you an idea of what the workshops will look like: SEA-NEA Grant Video.

Giving Tree Book Drive – community service project

  • November 2016
  • During the month of November SEA at GSU will be holding a book drive to help local military families and homeless families. We will be collecting books birth through grade 12. Collections will end December 1st.  We will have drop boxes in four (4) areas on the GSU campus: Main entrance (by admissions), Recreation and Fitness Department, G Lobby, and outside of G236.
