Outreach To Teach (OTT) 2017

A Message from our 2017-2018 Student IEA Chairperson, Becky Kreidler:

Hello Student IEA Members!

Next month, our annual Student IEA event Outreach to Teach will take place at Brooks Middle School in Harvey, IL (South Chicago Suburb) on Friday, June 16thDuring this event, student, active, and retired members come together to make a positive difference at an Illinois school. Why is it called Outreach To Teach?  As future teachers, current teachers, and retired teachers, we reach out to a local school to make improvements they are in need of, such as painting.  This tradition has been a lot of fun and very successful in improving schools across the state!

Not only is this event a great service opportunity, but an excellent chance to network and gain knowledge from fellow teachers.  We are waiting to hear back from the school about the exact start and end times, but are predicting that it will be similar to past years (appx. 7:30am to 3:30pm on Friday). We will send out an update as soon as we hear from the school.

The IEA has a limited number of hotel rooms for Thursday night for those not from the Chicago area.  In order to ensure we have enough help to finish the project, it is very important that you RSVP in advance using the link below before May 23rd! This will help us have an accurate count for lunch, hotel rooms, and t-shirts!

Id’ also like to encourage you to share this message with members at your local chapter to help spread the word. Don’t hesitate to contact Anne Barnabe at a.barnabe93@gmail.com, Mary Pat Hellner at marypat.hellner@ieanea.org, or Becky Kreidler at rkreidler@luc.edu if you have any questions. We hope to see you there!
